«Liberty Instinct» Exhibition

This is Anastasiya Medyanyk’s personal exhibition. She has proclaimed the creation of a new artistic union «Tvorchuny» at the exhibition’s opening; it’s aim – creativity without limits. The exhibition was opened on the same day when performance artist Oleksandr Volodarskyi was released on parole until the court hearing. He was arrested because his performance against the National Committee for Public Morality. Anastasiya Medyanyk dedicated her painting “The Optimist” to Oleksandr Volodarskyi, where a cheerful naked man was portrayed. The exhibition was opened on winter’s night; it has been minus 20 degrees outside. Anastasiya recollects the atmosphere of that evening: «I remember biting frost, and we are going to the opening, with hand-made puppets in huge bags… Public buses were rare, and the one we caught was fully packed with people».
