«Shevchenko's song» Festival

Luhansk students give completely new life to the poems of the classic Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. They performed the well-known poems in contemporary unique arrangements on the stage of Luhansk National University. The contest gathered 120 participants; among them were professional singers as well as amateurs. Lyrics and “hard” genre seemed incompatible from the first view. However, they brought success to those who could professionally show their vision of Shevchenko’s poetry to the audience. The performance by quintet of math students accompanied by a rock-band had been of particular success. They performed the rock-version of the “Zatsvila v dolyni chervona kalyna” poem.
