The Cinema Club of Luhansk
We launched the cinema club in Luhansk National University in the name of Taras Shevchenko. My friends helped me, in university – Ivan Ivanov, and outside – friends from creative association STAN and sympathizers of cinema club, who bring the films. We showed art-house, those films, which some of us have seen, and which we liked. Usually, we could find them in internet and watch them at home, but it is not so interesting in loneliness. Besides, after review we have discussions. The first review was in 2007, if I am not mistaken, in the university hall, on somewhat small screen, or even on television! But then we were provided with better technical conditions for watching. One of the first films were “Dancing in the Dark” and “Dogville”. There was only several people on our first reviews, 10 or 15 people. They were students, not only from our university but from Dal’ University. They knew about our reviews from social network Vkontakte, because at that time there was just a little people who knew about Facebook, and also through the announcements which we hang in the faculties. The administration did not care what we were watching, that is why they did not tamper with the program. They saw it as a club of interests, gave us keys – and that is all. It seems that this cinema club was an impulse to a creation of Cinema Festival “32 of April” in Luhansk” – says Liuba Yakimchiuk.
